4VS WINS FIVE (5) VIDEO AWARDS

Four Village Studio won five video awards at the 2014 “Alliance for Community Media, Northeast Regional Video Festival”. The studio garnered two 1st Place and three 2nd Place awards in a wide variety of competitive categories.

Host/producer Walter Gosden won 1st Place in the General Talk Show category for an episode of “The Antique Road Test”. The program focused on antique automobile “Mascots & Hood Ornaments”. “It’s great to have acknowledgement for my show,” said Mr. Gosden, “but the real credit belongs to our studio crew members and editors. They are the ones that turned my rough ideas into a professional award-winning program.”

Another 1st Place award, in the Instructional & Training category, went to host/producer Stephanie Larkin. The topic of the show was “Enjoying your Xbox” and featured Stephanie’s son JK Larkin. “It was so much fun producing this episode” said Ms. Larkin, “and the crew did an awesome job decorating the set and providing a very special ‘assistant’ that added a lot of character to the program.”

The studio won a 2nd Place award in the Diversity Empowerment category for “Careerfare”. In this episode, host/producer ellen o’brien chronicled “The ‘Girls’ in the Office” which was the inspiration for her book “Don’t Run... Don’t Explain… and Don’t Apologize!!!”.

Another 2nd Place award was won by host/producer Wes Houston in the Music & Performance category. “Wes Houston Presents…” featured a performance by “The Wes Houston Trio”. This was a rare opportunity where Wes performed on his own show. The program regularly highlights the talents of Long Island and New York metropolitan area musicians.

The final 2nd Place award came in the Sports Programming category. Host/producer Michelle Kerrigan won for an episode of “Workplace Confidence”. In this program, recently retired track announcer Tom Durkin, “The Voice of NYRA”, discussed his career-path and passion for thoroughbred race calling.

The award-winning host/producers were acknowledged at a ceremony held in Nashua, New Hampshire on Saturday, October 11th. The annual regional festival accepts program entries from community television producers throughout New England and New York State. This is the 14th year that Four Village Studio has submitted entries to the festival where nearly 500 programs vie for the top honors. 4VS has collected 43 awards, in a wide variety of categories, since first entering the regional competition.

All five of this year’s award-winning programs can be viewed at any time on the 4VS website by going to the “Watch Now” link to access each program.
