Three VIDEO AWARDS
To Four Village Studio
At 2011 ACM-NE Regional Video Festival

v  Four Village Studio was the winner of three awards at
this year's
Alliance for Community Media, Northeast Regional Video Festival.  The studio garnered one 1st Place and two 2nd Place awards in variety of categories.

v
Host/producer Larry Davidson won 1st Place in the General Talk Show category for an episode of
“Davidson & Co.”
. The program’s guest, author Darin Strauss, discussed the emotional effects from a tragic accident that occurred during his youth. “My show would not be as successful without the support of our student volunteers,” said Mr. Davidson, “and I am grateful for their dedication and professionalism.”

v
The studio won a 2nd Place award in the Children & Youth category for “Village Focus”. This 4VS program, produced in cooperation with Police Commissioner
Stephen G. McAllister and the Floral Park Police Department, targeted the problem of “Texting and Driving”.
Host/Producer’s P.O. John Groshans, Sgt. Will Doherty and Larry Davidson were assisted in the studio by students from Floral Park Memorial High School. “The Department is always interested in reaching out to the youth in our community,” said Police Officer Groshans, “and developing a partnership with Four Village Studio adds another avenue for that communication to grow”.

v
Another 2nd Place award was won by host/producer Stephanie Larkin in the Instructional & Training category. “Technically Speaking”, Stephanie’s new show for the technically challenged, examined the topic of
“Digital Photography”. “Hosting my show and working with the 4VS staff has been such a fun experience,” Ms. Larkin said, “and I’ve learned as much as I’ve taught
since the program began.”

v
The award-winners will be acknowledged at a ceremony held in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame,
Springfield, Massachusetts on Saturday, November 12th.
The annual regional festival accepts program entries from community television producers throughout New England and New York State. This is the 12th year that Four Village Studio has submitted entries to the festival where approximately 500 programs competed for the top honors. 4VS has collected 35 awards, in a wide variety of categories, since first entering the regional competition.

v
All three of this year’s award-winning programs will be re-broadcast on Monday, December 5th and Thursday, December 8th beginning at 8:00 PM. 4VS can be viewed on Cablevision’s channel 18 and Verizon’s channel 28. For an extended 4VS program schedule or more information about the studio, visit www.4VS.org.

v
Four Village Studio is a student-driven organization that always welcomes new volunteer staff members. Students at least 15 years-old, who are interested in television production as a possible career, are encouraged to call the studio at
326-1150 to arrange an informational interview.
