4VS WINS FOUR (4) VIDEO AWARDS

Four Village Studio won four video awards at this year's "Alliance for Community Media, Northeast Regional Video Festival". 4VS entries garnered four 2nd Place awards in a wide variety of competitive categories. All of the eligible programs were mandated to have been produced and first time cablecast during 2016.

Host/producer Wes Houston won 2nd Place in the Music & Performance category for an episode of "Wes Houston Presents...". The program featured "Kirsten Maxwell", a young singer/songwriter and guitarist, performing her original compositions.

Another 2nd Place award, in the General Talk Show category, went to host/producers Walter Gosden and John Salemmo for their program "The Antique Road Test". The show's topic, "Taxi! ...Taxi!", traced the evolution of the motorized taxicab.

The studio received a 2nd Place award in the Community Impact category for the program "FPPD Village Focus". Host/producers Sgt. Will Doherty and P.O. John Groshans of the Floral Park Police Department, won for their episode "Naloxone: Police Response To Overdoses".

The final 2nd Place award went to the program "Community Spotlight", which was entered in the Issues and Political Process category. James Green produced the studio's coverage of the "No Belmont Casino: Community Rally" recorded at Floral Park Memorial High School in early 2016.

The award-winning producers will be acknowledged at a ceremony being held in Cape Cod, Massachusetts on Friday, November 3rd. The annual regional festival accepts program entries from community television producers throughout New England and New York State. This is the 17th year that Four Village Studio has submitted entries to the festival where approximately 500 programs vie for the top honors. "It's rewarding to continue to be honored by our regional peers who judge this festival," remarked studio operations manager James Green, "and having such a wide variety of our shows recognized, from both newer and long-time 4VS producers, is particularly satisfying". 4VS has collected 51 awards, in numerous categories, since first entering this regional competition.
